The Tudor story: humble beginnings
Swiss watch brand, Tudor, is renowned in the watch industry, and it seems like everything is currently going their way. They are proud creators of some of the best watches currently on the market and they recently announced a collaboration with global fashion icon and football legend, David Beckham, who will act as their brand ambassador for the “Born to Dare” campaign.
However, it wasn’t always this way…
Tudor was founded in 1946 and enjoyed early success due to its unique positioning. The idea behind the brand was a straightforward concept: offer the reliability and precision of a Rolex but at a more accessible price point. This was many decades after Rolex had firmly positioned itself in popular culture, which paved the way for Tudor to dominate the lower end of the market.
The idea was a hit. The association with Rolex gave Tudor watches instant credibility, which went on for the next 30 to 40 years. However, at some point, Tudor got lost within the market and everything seemed to go quiet.
That was until 2012 when the brand relaunched itself in North America. The company returned to its roots and Tudor once again focused on tool watches, which were heavily inspired by vintage models from its early pioneering days. So far, the reception from the market has been extremely positive.
The brand everyone is talking about
Tudor is now one of the hottest brands in the watch industry and is being met with much buzz. Not only do the watches look great, but they are also extremely well-made, often with in-house movements. Plus, they are very affordable for everyone.
It’s a brand that can be worn by all; even if you don’t consider yourself a “watch guy”, Tudor will make you one. It has all the credentials you could hope for and is a clear winner in the industry – there truly is something intoxicating about the designs of Tudor watches. The fact that the watches are fit for purpose is an added bonus that appeals to many people.
You can get all this and more from a watch brand whose prices are considered to be ‘entry-level’. So, if you’re hoping to establish your “watch guy” credentials this new year, and look amazing in the process (although we can’t guarantee looks like David Beckham!), then Tudor is the best way to spend your hard-earned cash.
